Review of the Nylabone Frisbee

This review was written by veterinarian, Dr. Marie.

The Nylabone Frisbee is a classic toy that has been around for ages.  I remember about 15 years ago I had a toy-crazy Border Collie named Toby whose Nylabone Frisbee was his favorite toy.  Eventually he chewed the bone off of the top.  Then, he loved to walk around with his nose poking through the hole where the bone used to be.  Toby took that toy with him everywhere!  I highly recommend this toy.

I must comment though, that it is not meant to be a chew toy.  It’s meant to be a toy that you throw…like a frisbee!

Pros:

  • Safe.  Yes, the dog can chew pieces off, but the nylabone material is ok to be swallowed and very unlikely to cause an obstruction.
  • Great tool to exercise your dog (if he or she likes to play frisbee)
  • It’s nice and soft so it’s not likely to hurt your dog if it hits him or her in the noggin.
  • Comes in a floatable variety that is great for dogs who like to play frisbee in the water.

Cons:

  • This toy is NOT meant to be a chew toy.  It’s more for occasional play.
  • If you have an aggressive chewer the toy may not last for too long.
